How to choose a domain name for your creator site
By MaraCompass Editorial Team ·

A short, practical framework for picking a domain name that is easy to share, easy to remember, and hard to mistype.
Your domain name is the thing people type, say out loud and put in a bio. A good one removes friction; a bad one costs you repeat visits you will never see.
Keep it short. Fewer characters mean fewer chances to mistype it. Aim for one or two words, and avoid hyphens and numbers unless they are part of your brand.
Make it say-able. If you have to spell it out for someone over a coffee, it is too clever. Read it aloud — if it sounds like something else or trips the tongue, pick again.
Pick the right extension. A .com is still the default people reach for. If your name is taken, a clear alternative like .io, .co or a country code can work, but it should feel intentional rather than like a leftover.
Check the basics before you commit: is it available on the social platforms you use, does it read cleanly in lowercase, and is there anything awkward hiding in the letter run.
Once you have it, register it for more than a year and turn on auto-renew. Losing a domain to an expired card is an avoidable mistake, and renewing it later is rarely cheap.
